Hi all,
This is my first post here. English is not my first language so I apologize for my errors if I have one.
I'm 26 old singer/songwriter from Macedonia. I have home studio and I'm a producer also. I found this forum to be very interesting and I'm really exiting to share ideas, opinions and advices here. I'm looking further for meeting singers/songwriters from all over the world.
I want to ask a question about songwriters "Ego" and his viewing of the song vs Singers (buyers) viewpoint. Recently I made song for one singer who's a singer who sings in a pubs. All the time while I was making the song this singer had a different viewpoint on the arrangement of the song than me. The song is in maneer of Lady Gaga and he wanted a guitars in the song because many people told him that it "must to have guitars in this song". I don't see that this song has to have guitars at all and we're in a conflict. My "Ego" or Viewpoint on my song doesn't allow me to see it in any other arrangement than the arrangement that I now have. The singer will took the song anyway (because it is finished) but I'm not sure that he will came another time for another song.
So, has anyone of you had similar experiences? Am I need to listen "all other opinions" (which are all different) or to listen to my heart and do the song the way I see it? I'm thinking a lot about this subject and I'm really "hard" to change my opinion. I know that sometimes this is positive but there're so many people out there who have different opinions, and if I listen all of them I will have their viewpoints on my songs and not mine. How to make the singer contented if I don't give him what he want?! But in many cases they DON'T know what they want but listen what other people would tell them about the song..
I'm in this kind of confusion so any opinions would be appreciate.
Thank you
